Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another.  It includes physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and emotional abuse.  Domestic violence is an epidemic affecting individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality.
Sexual Assault
Sexual Assault is when someone engages in a sexual act without  the consent of the other person involved.  Sexual assault is an epidemic affecting individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality.
Roanoke Chowan SAFE is funded through yearly grant writting by the North Carolina Council for Women & Youth Involvment Administration, Govenor's Crime Commision, Family Violence Protection Act, Local government, private foundations, fundraisers, and individual donations.

Roanoke Chowan S.A.F.E. (Services for Abused Families with Emergencies) is a domestic violence and sexual assault agency located in Ahoskie, North Carolina.  Our Agency serves Hertford, Northampton, Bertie and Gates Counties. Our main office is located in Ahoskie at 123 Lofton Lane and we have satelite offices in each of the counties we serve.

Year to date, SAFE has proivided services to over 7,000 victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault collectively.
